General Drupal Tutorial

Introduction

This is where to find basic help with the basic sections of your site. If you have access to the administration menu across the top of your site, many of these steps can be completed in the fly-out menu above. To most easily use this tutorial, you should open a new browser (Firefox) tab or window. Keep this tutorial open in one window / tab and fullow the steps in the other window / tab. Most browsers you may open a new tab by pressing Control-t and a new window by pressing Control-n. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to email Maggie.

To Create a Page

  • Click Content Management > Click Create Content > Page
  • Fill out all fields then press Save

To Create an FAQ

  • Click Content Management > Click Create Content > FAQ
  • Fill out all fields then press Save

To upload an Image

  • Click Content Management > Click Create Content > Image
  • Click Browse to find file on your computer then press Upload
  • Fill out all fields then press Save

To Create a Blog Entry

  • Click Content Management > Click Create Content > Blog Entry
  • Fill out all fields then press Save

To upload an Image

  • Click Content Management > Click Create Content > Image
  • Click Browse to find file on your computer then press Upload
  • Fill out all fields then press Save

To modify Page, FAQ, Image or Blog

  • Click Content Management > Content > List
  • Here you may Filter by type to show only Pages, FAQs or Blog Entries. Remember to click Reset when you are finished.
  • Click on name of the Page, FAQ, Image or Blog you wish to modify
  • Click the Edit tab
  • When finished with modifications, press Save

To Delete Page, FAQ, Image or Blog

  • Click Content Management > Content > List
  • Here you may Filter by type to show only Pages, FAQs or Blog Entries. Remember to click Reset when you are finished.
  • Click on name of the Page, FAQ, Image or Blog you wish to modify
  • Click the Edit tab
  • Scroll to the bottom and press Delete

To insert an Image into a Page, FAQ or Blog Entry

  • Go to the node for the Image you wish to insert
  • Right click on the image and Copy Image Location
  • Open up the Page, FAQ or Blog Entry and press Edit
  • Go to where you would like the Image and press the little picture icon up at the top
  • Under Image URL paste the image location you just copied, then remove all of the specific domain information. For example if the image location is http://youdomain.geekgene.com/files/myimage.jpg you would remove all but /files/myimage.jpg. This is to ensure if your domain name changes all your images will still work.
  • Press Save
